A final draft plan for the Evans Town Center Urban Design Plan is here and ready to view! After a very successful planning process that included the careful review of current market conditions, buy-in from the community, and discussions with Columbia County staff and the Stakeholder Committee, this plan is on its way to adoption! We received valuable feedback from the community at the second public meeting and drop-in work session held on April 12th, 2018. Approximately 45 people in total showed up to give their input and to view the progress made so far on the future plans for Evans Town Center. The planning team came prepared with three different concept plans, a draft framework plan, and various preliminary street section improvement plans for sections of Ronald Reagan Drive, Evans To Locks Road, North Belair Road, and Washington Avenue. A presentation was also prepared to give a recap on what we heard so far, the current market conditions in the area, and case studies for walkable downtowns.
Thank you for coming to our first Public Kickoff Meeting!
Thank you to all who were able to make it out to our first Public Meeting for this planning process on March 13th!! Approximately 45 people attended the meeting at the Columbia County Public Library to meet the project team, review the draft study area boundary and existing conditions, followed with a mapping and dot activity.
Attendees were asked to place colored dots on maps to indicate the following:
- Intersection and gateway improvements
- Improved or new sidewalks and trails
- General redevelopment opportunities
- Additional parks and opens spaces
